TORONTO — Super Mario is returning to his old stomping grounds for the first time in more than a decade. The mustachioed plumber is best known as the prototypical hero of Nintendo’s popular two-dimensional platform games. In fact, he helped originate the genre (in his non-super form) in the 1981 arcade classic “Donkey Kong.”But in the 11 years since the release of “New Super Mario Bros. U” — the last original side-scrolling platformer in the franchise — Mario has been pursuing other interests. He’s appeared in a handful of 3D adventures, kept up with his lucrative racing career, competed at several Olympic Games and starred in an animated movie that raked in a worldwide box office of US$1.36 billion. “Super Mario Bros. Wonder,” out this Friday for the Nintendo Switch gaming system, returns the iconic character to his iconic milieu. The result is a game that has all the hallmarks of a classic Super Mario adventure with enough innovation ...Schaumburg bank robbed at gunpoint; no one in custody

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — President Joe Biden swept into wartime Israel for an 7 1/2--hour visit Wednesday that produced a heaping dose of support for the Israeli people, a deal to get limited humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt and a warning not to allow rage over the deadly Hamas attack to consume them. “I understand. Many Americans understand,” Biden said as he wrapped up his stay in Tel Aviv, likening the Oct. 7 Hamas attack to the attacks against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, that killed nearly 3,000 people. “You can’t look at what has happened here ... and not scream out for justice," he said. “But I caution this: While you feel that rage, don’t be consumed by it,” he said. “After 9/11, we were enraged in the United States. And while we sought justice and got justice, we also made mistakes."Biden urged Israel to step back from the brink, not just to ease growing tensions in the Mideast that threaten to spiral into a broader regional conflict, but also to reassure a worl...Four Chicago MLB players up for 2023 Gold Glove Awards
